The Shofar is blown during the High Holidays. Beginning from the start of the Hebrew month Elul, the shofar is blown daily, after morning prayers, in preparation for the upcoming holidays. Throughout the days of Rosh Hashana, the shofar is blown a total of one hundred times. The sound of the shofar is meant to awaken those who hear it to be repent.
